Happy Valentine’s Day!
Holidays can be tough for those with food allergies. Don’t get down and sad! Come up with fun ideas to eat and do during a holiday that revolves around chocolate and sweets.
Here are some tips and treats for an allergy-free Valentine’s Day:
- Need a great gift for the family? Try an edible food basket of fruit skewers! A great family activity for the kids, too. No need to crave sweets when they are making their own yummy snacks!
- Order snacks from a food and nut-free company like, Vermont Nut Free Chocolates. (http://www.vermontnutfree.com/) They are a company started by a mom who has kids with food allergies! Yearning for candies? Try Gimbal’s – their candy is peanut-free, tree nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and egg-free. (http://www.gimbalscandy.com/allergen-free.html)
- Set up a treasure hunt with Valentines toys or riddles. The first one gives a clue for the location of the next one, and so on, until the kids collect them all.
- Focus on the friendships and fun! (Life does not revolve around chocolate and treats!)
